David Mueller
Director of Virtual Design & Construction Stellar Group
David Mueller is the Director of Virtual Design & Construction at Stellar, a leading engineering and construction firm specializing in industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. With more than 20 years of experience in CAD/BIM design, modeling, and administration, he has built extensive expertise across multiple sectors, including transmission and distribution power and MEP systems.
At Stellar, David leads a team of VDC professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality 3D models and construction drawings for clients. He oversees the development and implementation of CAD/BIM standards, workflows, and best practices across the organization. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and key stakeholders, he ensures that VDC solutions consistently align with project goals, technical requirements, and client expectations.
Before joining Stellar, David served as a 3D Core Lead at Lincoln Electric System, where he managed 3D model design, lidar scanning, and CAD/BIM administration for power infrastructure projects. Prior to that, he worked as a Power Electrical Design Associate at Olsson Associates, producing detailed plans and system models for power projects, including 3D station models, arc-flash studies, and master planning initiatives. He began his career as a Plumbing Systems Designer at Schnackel Engineers, providing plumbing system designs for retail, restaurant, medical, and multi-residential developments.
David is highly proficient in industry-leading CAD/BIM platforms, including AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and Inventor, as well as reality capture hardware and software from Leica and Faro. He is also certified as an Autodesk Professional in AutoCAD.
